Some exciting new to share......My friends and fellow Army wives: Tara Crooks, Star Henderson, Kathy Hightower and Holly Scherer have gotten together to write a great new book. 1001 Things To Love About Military Life.I have had the pleasure to have photographed all these wonderful ladies in the past either for commercial projects, for family photos or both.I was so excited when they contacted me to use some of my photos for their book :-) Here is one of my personal favorites that will be featured in the book.

I got to spend some time photographing this special little guy. He was so sweet. Although he spit up, pee'd and pooped twice. It was all good with me.......
Mom on the other hand needed an "adult" beverage by the end of the session ;o
If you are planning on booking a newborn session. Let me just let you know that they tend to take longer than most photo sessions. Why? You might be wondering. Well, babies 1-12 days old are new to the world and are still on their own schedule. They need to have a full tummy, be rocked and let to fall asleep. This can sometimes take time. They like to take multiple bathroom breaks at this time. Sometimes, all over themselves and the backdrop. As a photographer please know this does not not phase me or gross me out one bit. I am the mom of three kids so I have been there and done that. New moms I know it's hard to relax when you feel like you are on the spot to get your baby to settle down and fall asleep so the photographer can take his picture. This is your time and your session. I will try do everything I can help you relax.We are in no rush. I love "LOVE" the opportunity to photograph your newborn.
Though my lens I am given the rare opportunity and gift to truly glimpses into Heaven and see the hand of God.

...She didn't really want to have her senior photos done.
I think she did it more because her mom wanted photos of her. Her mom knew that this would really be the last time she would be able to have her photographed. She has gone from baby to toddler and now she is a high school senior. She will head to college in the Fall. Her future is ahead of her. To her it can't seem to get here fast enough.
For her mom she finds it hard to believe that time has gone by so fast. Her daughter is teeting on the brink of adulthood ready to take flight.
Here is to the future. May it be filled with joy!

I have been rethinking my blog. I have struggled to keep up with posting in a timely fashion. At times it has become a chore to blog about current sessions and what not.
So, I have decided to change things up. I want to be inspired! I want to inspire! I have an idea in mind of what I want my blog to be and I know what I don't want it to be.
I really am kind of over the whole photographer blog thing. You know what I mean.......same old same.
Imagine a photo or photos and then the typical. "This a recent session I had of a beautiful ___________ insert one of the following (family, baby, wedding).....blah-blah-blah! Hire me......blah-blah-blah."
I want more!!! I want to show you a glimpse into my soul, my creative thoughts behind some of my shots, favorite quotes, something real!
I am not sure where I am headed with this, but let the journey begin.

Hijacked Blog!

Wow! It's good to be back in the blogospher. My blog was hijacked without my knowlege. Maybe you noticed and were scratching your head as to why when you went to my blog there was a huge ad for accutane and buying drugs online. No, I didn't switch my profession. After some late nights and lots researching and reading up on stuff online. I am finally able to post. Wow, where do I start??
I hope 2010 has gotten off to a great start for you and your families. As always,I am busy with taking pictures of my many amazing clients. I am also getting excited about school getting out...yeah!

Merry Christmas To All............What a year it was!

Can you believe that this is the last day of the year. To me it seems like the year just flew by. Wow! What a year it was. I am really looking foward to 2010 and what the next year and decade have in store for me and all my loved ones. I had some "stuff" that came up over the Summer but now that that is all behind me. I am ready to grab the bull by the horns. I had to really slow down my business but I am hopeful for the new year. Here is to 2010.

Where Does the Time Go?

Remember the day you brought your baby home from the hospital. All the sleepless night. All the first. First smile, first tooth, first steps. How you try to hold tight all these wonderful moments of childhood. If you are like many parents you have your childs portrait taken that first year on regular basis...newborn, 6 months, first year and you are pretty good about keeping up with toddler years, but than in a blur you turn around and your beautiful baby girl has blossomed into a beautiful young lady....and you haven't had a portrait done in years!! If that sounds familar trust me you are not alone. I am running a Summer special. Sitting fees are only $75.00.

Some recent beauties. Reasons why I LOVE my job! I don't know about you but I have am having a great Summer. I just wish I had more time to blog...lol. I have had some great portrait sessions. I have been busy with some commercial work...one for Pepsi! I went to New York City and soon I am headed out to California. My kids have been busy with playing with friends, swimming, horseback riding (our new love), and so on.

Busy Bee's and Me

Wow! I have been busy, but haven't we all? With all the activities that come with the end of school and the start of Summer. I am so ready for Summer....and so are my kids. I have some great things planned. Sleeping in, reading, swimming. A girls week in New York City for shopping and Broadway shows. And then there is the family vacation to Santa Monica, California. Can you say Disneyland?? My little girl so is ready to meet Mickey and friends. Summer will go fast and soon school will be starting again.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. My computer caught a virus....YUCK! If you have ever had a virus on your computer you know it is no fun. I hope it is gone and all is well. The weather is beautiful. It is so nice to be able to get out and do sessions outside. To welcome Spring I am offering special photo sessions for $75. Super Love Day!!!

I had a great Valentine's weekend. I hope you did too. My family and I drove to Nashville for the long weekend. We stayed at the very cool and artsy Preston Hotel. I loved all the art! One of the reasons we went to Nashville was so I could attend some photography workshops. Hosted by the Rocky Mountain School of Photography. An awesome photography program. My husband went to college at Vanderbilt. So, while I was in class he was happy to show them around campus. They got to take in a Vanderbilt basketball game and they even got to go to the zoo. So it was a fun weekend had by all. Oh, and did I mention our yummy breakfast at the Pankcake Pantry. Always worth the wait.

Meet Lexi! This was another reason we went to Nashville for Valentine's Day. Isn't she cute. Our family loves her.

Snow Day

Okay, I have to admit that when it comes to Winter I always getting excited when the forecast says a chance of snow. Now that my family has relocated to Memphis the chance of having a snow day is few and far between....but this week we woke up to an unexpected surprise SNOW!!

This was my youngest daughters first time to see snow. Not really sure she was crazy about it.
My oldest daughter loved the snow day and spent lots time outside playing with her friends.

Ahh! Home Sweet Home. Everything looks better with a little coating of icing.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to photograph brother and sister T and H. Their mom called in need of some photos for the Memphis Youth Symphony. So we braved the cold and took some photos of them with and without their violins.

When I am an old women....

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple

with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.

And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves

and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.

I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired

and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells

and run my stick along the public railings

and make up for the sobriety of my youth.

I shall go out in my slippers in the rain

and pick the flowers in other people's gardens

and learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat

and eat three pounds of sausages at a go

or only bread and pickles for a week

and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry

and pay our rent and not swear in the street

and set a good example for the children.

We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?

So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised

Baby it's cold outside!.....bbbuuuurrrrr!! Winter always makes it a little more challenging to do outdoor sessions. This super family was up for anything and even though it was cold we had fun and got some great shots.

Motherhood is like a fairy tale.

Yesterday I took my daughter to the dentist. I love the doctors and the staff at Churchwell Pediatrics Dentistry. They are kind and caring and just plain awesome with kiddos. While I was sitting in the office waiting for my daughter I was flipping magazines. I stumbled across a cute quote of why motherhood is like a fairy tale.
1. Your kids insist that their expensive new beds are too soft or too hard. However, your bed is just right.
2. Though they will eat neon fruit by the yard, your children act like you want to poison them if you offer them a real apple.
3. Each night when you return home, several waist-high people greet you. One is sleepy and one is grumpy. -Deborah Skolnik

I don't know about you but I am so living that quote right now....lo! My youngest likes to sleep on the loveseat in my bedroom. She use to have to sleep on my chest, so we are making progress. My middle child is a very picky eater so she often looks at me like I want to poison her if I ask her to try something new.....lol

What I'm Reading.

I LOVE TO READ!! I alway have a stack of books on my nightstand waiting to be read. Seems I always have a few books going at a time.....hmmm, is that wierd? I'll be reading a novel and a nonfiction book or the all important self improvement book...lol! Oh, well, I thought it would be fun to share what books I read this year. Right now one of the books I am reading is Annie Leibovitz At Work (see photo above). I don't think I have to state the obvious of what an amazingly talented photographer she is. She is one of the iconic photographer of our times. What I wouldn't give to sit down with her over coffee and talk photography or to just hold a reflector at one of her shoots....just to watch her work. Aaaaahhhh Bliss!

I am super excited about what I have up my sleeve.....hee-hee! All to be revealed in good time.

Oh, Where does the time fly??? I can't believe it's been as long as it has since I last posted. Seems like it's been one thing after another....lol! Oh, well I am back and I have a beautiful new blog thanks to the talented Nikki! Thanks girl!
It seems perfect that I am back for a new year. Welcome 2009! What are your resolutions? Mine are simple. To be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend to those special loved ones in my life. To get on the bandwagon with Oprah and live my best life ever....see you at the gym!
